"Recently I had a chance to do some painting right at the edge of the ocean, and these were not what we call plein eir paintings where I was setting up my easel and painting but these were when we were back at our cabin, after having spent the morning walking along the cliffs of ocean. What came from that were a series of paintings inspired by that experience.
As I started to paint, I noticed that the last few couple of paintings in particular, took on a much more abstract feel. And while you can tell they are of the coastline and the ocean and so forth, there is more playfulness with the colors and the contrastingness of the colors and actually even a sense of depth that I was exploring in the paintings and a feeling you would have walking over a precarious over the ocean." - JP
